Placeholder legal text. This page is a good-faith draft, not final legal advice. Replace it with copy reviewed by a qualified attorney before relying on it commercially.

1. Agreement to Terms

By creating an account or using Bookkeeping Machine (the "Service"), operated by Bookkeeping Machine LLC ("we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Bookkeeping Machine helps businesses organize financial transactions, receipts, and reports using automated tools and optional bank connections. The Service is a bookkeeping organization tool — it is not a substitute for a licensed accountant, bookkeeper, or tax professional.

3. Payroll & Time Tracking

If you use the Service's Payroll or Time Tracking features, they help track employee hours and prepare payroll summaries for your own records. All hours, overtime, and pay totals shown are planning estimates only. The Service does not calculate tax withholding, does not issue direct deposits, and does not file payroll tax forms — it is not a complete payroll-processing service. Export these summaries to a verified payroll provider or your accountant to run actual payroll.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase, via our payment processor, Stripe. Free trials convert to a paid subscription automatically unless canceled before the trial ends. See our Refund Policy for details on cancellations and refunds.

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of the financial data you upload or connect to the Service. We process it to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. No Financial or Tax Advice

Bookkeeping Machine does not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice, and does not guarantee the accuracy of automated categorization or the completeness of any report. Review all AI-suggested categorizations and consult a qualified professional for tax filing and compliance decisions.

8. Acceptable Use

  • Don't attempt to access another business's data without authorization.
  • Don't attempt to circumvent rate limits, security controls, or authentication.
  • Don't use the Service for unlawful purposes.

9. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time from Billing settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bookkeeping Machine LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service.
